DESCRIPTION

An ideal visit for those who believe they know Segovia well, or to finish off your stay in the city with an essential facet of its past and present, to really understand the city. A combination of know-how and living art made in Segovia, industrial architecture steeped in history and in a fresh and relaxing natural environment, dominated by water and constant greenery, in the shadow of the monumental city and its walls.

The historical importance of the city is closely linked to its manufacturing activity during the Middle Ages and the Present Day: factories of cloth, paper, ice, flour mills, mills and dams … and the Royal Mint, a complex which has now been restored and turned into a museum using the most modern techniques, and which used to hold great importance for the Spanish Treasury. The guest of honour who is always present on this tour is the Eresma River, whose water power – on occasions somewhat uncontrollable – has been the main reason for this important industrial past.

Segovia today is also a city of crafts, productive genius and creativity. You be able to see this in two workshops, one of stonecutting and one of art restoration, where real experts who also know how to enthuse their visitors with the mysteries of their crafts will share their knowledge with both young and old.

    DID YOU KNOW?

    • The Mint is one of the few Spanish industrial buildings from the sixteenth century that have survived almost intact until the present day. It was built by Juan de Herrera for Philip II, who established a mint here, in which the roller-based system of minting coins was first introduced into Spain.
    • The Path of the Mills combines landscape, nature, geology and industrial history, passing by old factories and mills.
