DESCRIPTION

An underground historic wine-ageing cellar (17th century), in the basement of a traditional house, on 140 sqm2. The perfect place to get acquainted with the traditional way of winemaking in the land of Toro.

The tour follows the path of wine processing inside the cellar. The upper floor of the bodega preserves an old press, with a large wooden beam.  The must went down to the cellar through small Downstairs you will see the large processing wooden vats.

Take then a relaxed break in the tasting room to sample two of the bodega’s organic wines. Their shop displays a large range of wines from the D.O. Toro.

DID YOU KNOW?

  • Until 1999, the wines of Bodegas Velasco were produced in this historic cellar. That is why the place preserves the historic wooden presses, vats and machinery in perfect conditions. The new family winery is located in the outskirts of Toro.

Monday to Sunday, 9.30 – 2.00pm and 4.00 – 8.00pm.

Individuals allowed.

Maximum group size

25 people.

Groups over 50 people are subdivided to ensure a better visit experience.

The winery is not accessible for disabled people, because of its historic structure.

Suggestions

We suggest to complete this experience with a private guided tour of the historic town of Toro and a visit to the famous art exhibition “Las Edades del Hombre” (April – November 2016).
