DESCRIPTION
You will feel privileged to visit an authentic artisan cheese factory, run by a family of Zamorano farmers who keep alive the cheese-making traditions of this land, which have their origins in the “encellas” (cheese moulds) of the Bronze Age and which are now endorsed by the Denomination of Origin “Zamorano Cheese” issued by the Regulatory Board.
This cheese is produced solely from the milk from two native breeds of sheep: Churra and Spanish, from our family flocks. At LAURUS we still remain true to lifelong traditional processes. Our cheeses (cured, in oil, and cream) are free from all chemicals or any ingredients other than the milk itself. At the same time, we take great care with our manufacturing processes, so that we preserve the characteristic powerful and well developed aromas and flavours, which linger on the palate.
As you will see: this cheese is ‘la leche’ (the real thing)!
DID YOU KNOW?
- In Latin, Laurus means: laureate, victorious, object of veneration.
- Zamora province is the largest producer of sheep’s milk in Spain, and most national cheese industries have factories here.
- LAURUS cream cheese is the result of the careful blending of various cheeses.
